Closure refers to a psychological process in a reader's or viewer's mind in which he/she subconsciously "fills in the blanks" of a story or image. Closure can refer to somebody seeing a human in a stick figure, yet it can also refer to the way in which the human mind takes frame after frame in a cartoon and blends it together into what seems like fluid and continuous action. In all cases, closure is involuntary, and no comic or piece of animation can be properly observed without some amount of closure done in the mind of the viewer.
