Richard Linklater is an American film director and writer. He has made 16 films including his first film, It’s Impossible to Learn to Plow by Reading Book made in 1989. Linklater is essentially a self-taught director, as he did not go to film school prior to making his films. Two of Linklater’s films, [Waking Life] and [A Scanner Darkly] are significant to animation because of their unique use of [rotoscoping]. Both of the films were shot entirely in live-action, and where then drawn over to create the unusual aesthetic that film critic Roger Ebert praised, in the case of Waking Life as being “perfect for the film”. Although he makes most of his films in live action, both A Scanner Darkly and Waking Life have been well received critically. [[1]] [[2]]
