Three Little Pigs is a Walt Disney Silly Symphonies animated short film. Directed by Burton Gillett, it is adapted from a classic children fairy tale: Three Little Pigs. It was released on May 27, 1933 by United Artists and received an Academy Award in 1934 for Best Short Subject: Cartoon.
After its release, the cartoon had an extraordinary impact on the American Public. Its hit tune, “Who’s afraid of the Big Bad Wolf?” swept the nation. Many people saw this film as Disney’s comment in fable form on the Depression era. Whatever Disney’s motives were for making it, it displayed a marked advance in terms of storytelling and character development.
