Tim Burton is an American film director and writer. His films are often dark in nature. Burton gained success in his early career with high-grossing films such as Beetlejuice, Edward Scissorhands, and Batman. In terms of animated works, Burton was a producer and writer for the cult-hit feature-length film The Nightmare Before Christmas. In 1996 he also produced James and the Giant Peach, and he directed and produced The Corpse Bride in 2005.
Burton's animation style is very distinct. His animated films utilized stop-motion animation using stylized dolls. The Nightmare Before Christmas was the first attempt at using this animation style on such a large scale.
