Velma 4

Velma Dinkley is a is one of the tritagonists of the Scooby-Doo franchise. She is a member of the amateur slueth group, Mystery Inc.. She is usually potrayed as the smartest of the group, and at 15, the youngest. Despite her age, she is potrayed as being in the same grade as the group, probably a Junior or Senior in High Scool, making her something of a prodigy.

Velma wears an orange turtle neck sweater, a red skirt, orange stockings, and red Mary Jane shoes, and appears as a stereotypical science nerd, with black horned-rim glasses and all. She also has exceptional knowledge in other fields, being able to read Aztec, and speak several languages. She also has a massive knowledge on forensic science and history, which helps the gang solve mysteries.

A running gag in the series, Velma has extreme nearsightedness, and whenever she loses her glasses, she fumbles around the floor looking for them, usually to be found by the monster of the week.

She has been voiced by Nicole Jaffe, Pat Stevens, and Marla Frumpkin between 1969 and 1980. She was voiced by Christina Lange in A Pup Named Scooby-Doo, and then B.J. Ward in several direct-to-video films. From 2002 until 2015, Velma was voiced by Mindy Cohn of The Facts of Life fame. In Scooby-Doo! Adventures: The Mystery Map, Velma is voiced by Stephanie D'Abruzzo. On July 8, 2015, it was announced that Kate Micucci would take over the role of Velma in the then-upcoming series Be Cool, Scooby-Doo!
